Firstly, welcome to Tauranga.

This is a helpful page of useful links and info about the city. Doctors, banks, TCC offices, Library… and some activity links for families.

Tauranga is a growing and vibrant city of over 111,000 people.  Our population has almost doubled in the last 20 years and by 2021 it is expected to reach 141,000. The city covers an area of 13,440 hectares.  The landscape is dominated by the volcanic cone of Mauao (Mount Maunganui), the harbour, long white beaches and the Kaimai mountain ranges to the west.

Tauranga City Council website has a lot of helpful info and detailed information about household services in your area – things like rubbish collection, for more detailed information and service providers, see here: Rubbish Collection. If you are looking to purchase property, the City Council database has useful ‘house sales’ data for much of the city, this can help with property values in different suburbs. Go HERE.


Citizens Advice Bureau can help with all sorts of information from your rights and obligations in many situations to nearest doctor/dentist to legal and imagration advice. click on the logo to go to their website, or call: 07 578 1592, email: They are located at: 38 Hamilton Street, Tauranga. Open 9am-5pm Mon-Fri.

Bay Hopper is the local public bus service. Their website has prices and route timetables. There are free buses for pensioners too at certain times of the day. No eftpos is available, but cash or pre-paid swipe cards can be purchased.

Finding employment

There are three main avenues to search for jobs. These online directories cover the whole of New Zealand, but you can regionalise your searches.

Directory of People and Business services.

The main avenue to find people or business services is the New Zealand White or Yellow Pages – a telephone directory on for all regions of New Zealand. White Pages for individuals and Yellow Pages for businesses and services. Click on the logos to use their online directories. Of course Google searches are sometimes just as quick.



Banking Services

All the major banks are located in the main shopping/business areas – Tauranga CBD, Greerton, Mt Maungaui. Click on the logos below to find one nearest you. Or a Google search for “Tauranga banking locations” will bring up most of the main banking institutions
